中国的湿地修复:未来机遇与挑战 —— 德稻生态修复李若云大师北京林业大学讲座

11月10日,德稻生态修复大师李若云教授应北京林业大学自然保护区学院院长雷光春教授的邀请,为该学院师生带去了一场题为“中国的湿地修复:未来机遇与挑战”的讲座。讲座后,李若云教授与该学院的领导、教授召开会议,探讨合作。德稻集团副总裁王艳女士出席了此次讲座与会议。

李若云是一位来自美国弗罗里达、有着43年生态修复实践经验的生态学家,他希望在中国通过培训和教育,改变人们对水资源的理解,这是他的中国使命。讲座中,李若云教授介绍了他自己负责的佛罗里达海湾海岸大学的整体规划项目和佛罗里达州西南部DR/GR区域的流域分析及地下水资源保护项目,向学生们展示了“顺应自然”的生态学哲学。

 

讲座,李若云教授还展示了一组上海周边的水资源短缺与污染的照片,从日常生活的角度揭示了中国的水资源问题。他指出,目前中国面临的这些问题与70年代美国的环境问题极为相似。他相信,借助美国过去几十年开发的技术及拥有的经验,中国能够在更短的时间内完成修复。

讲座结束后,李若云教授与学院领导、专家召开会议。院长雷光春教授、副院长张明祥教授、徐基良教授以及徐迎寿老师出席了此次会议。会上,双方达成一致,将在生态保护、修复及相关领域开展教育等方面的合作。李若云教授与雷光春院长暂定将于2016年1月14日召开后续会议,并签署合作备忘录。

关于北京林业大学及自然保护区学院:

北京林业大学是教育部直属、教育部与国家林业局共建的全国重点大学,首批“211工程”重点建设的高校。学校办学历史可追溯至1902年的京师大学堂农业科林学目。学校以林学、生态学、水土保持、风景园林、生物学、林业工程学为特色,是农、理、工、管、经、文、法、哲相结合的多科性协调发展的全国重点大学。

Wetland Restoration in China: Future Opportunities and Challenges

On Nov. 10th, 2015, Prof. Kevin Erwin, DeTao Master of Ecological Restoration, was invited by Prof. Lei Guangchun (Dean of School of Nature Conservation, BJFU) to give a lecture on Wetland Restoration in China: Future Opportunities and Challenges. Prof. Erwin and the leaders and professors from the School then had e meeting on future collaboration. Vice President of DeTao Group, Regina Wang, has attended the lecture and the meeting after that.

 

As an ecosystem ecologist with 43 years of practical experience, Prof. Kevin Erwin has formed his mission to train and educate people to change their understanding on water resources. In this lecture, Prof. Kevin Erwin has taken his two projects: 1) Master Planning of Florida Gulf Coast University and 2) the Watershed Analysis of DR/GR area in Southwest Florida as case studies, to show his ecological philosophy of “work with nature” to the students. He also used people’s daily life as an example with a group photos taken near Shanghai to show the water pollution and scarcity issues in China, which are similar to what happened in the US in 1970s. Prof. Kevin Erwin strongly believes that with the technology and experience that are already developed in the US in the past years, China can restore its environment in faster time.

 

Invited by Prof. Lei, Regina Wang has given a short introduction of DeTao Group. DeTao Group is a knowledge and innovation oriented conglomerate, gathering over 500 masters from different industries around world providing premium vocational education and industrial innovation.

 

The lecture has attracted many audiences from different backgrounds. Inspired by Prof. Kevin Erwin’s lecture, the students actively asked questions in economic driver of wetland restoration, states regulations, and the difference between wetland restoration and landscaping etc.

 

After the lecture, Prof. Kevin Erwin had a productive meeting with professors and leaders from the School. Prof. Lei (Dean of SNC), Prof. Zhang Mingxiang (Vice Dean), Prof. Xu Jiliang (Vice Dean), and Mr. Xu Xiang (Administrative Vice Dean of SNC) have attended. Both parties reached an agreement to collaborate on the education of ecological protection and restoration and related fields. Prof. Erwin and Prof. Lei also set up an MOU signing ceremony and a follow-up meeting on Jan. 14th, 2016.

 

About Beijing Forestry University and School of Nature Conservation:

Beijing Forestry University (BJFU) is a key national university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and technically affiliated to the State Forestry Administration (SFA) that are entitled to enjoy financial supports from the Higher Education Reinvigoration Project 211.
