PhDc Stavros Didakis (Senior Lecturer)

Stavros Didakis is a maker, artist, and researcher creating interactions, systems and installations. His current PhD research focuses on the development of technologies for architectural augmentation and inhabitant personalization, a research supported by the Institute of Digital Arts Technology (Plymouth University, UK), and it is fully funded from the Alexander S. Onasis Public Benefit Foundation (Greece). Stavros has exhibited his interactive works internationally, and he has also made numerous publications in conferences and journals. Mujin Bao Lixin (SIVA Professor)

Film Director / Video Artist, lives and works in Shanghai. Graduated from L’Ecole Nationale Supérieure D’Art de Nancy, France, and later residented at Le Fresnoy-Studio National Des Arts Contemporains on two years’ research projects of films. As an independent film director and one of a few Chinese female video artists, she works in Shanghai currently.Her works were selected in several international film festivals, including Festival de Cannes 2010( SFC), short¬listed by Air France Jeunes Talent Prize (2010), and also nominated as Best Director Award in 2012 Madrid In¬ternational Film Festival. Mujin was the winner of Grand Prize of the Jury in Festival d’art vidéo et de cultures numériques-videoformes(2012), France.“Instability” and “Drift” are always the main theme of the artist’s research. Mujin’s video works mainly drawn from social reality of China, open up a poetic journey of images in between documentary and experimen¬tal film. By the prism of reality and imagination, the artist’s reflects a coexistence of hope and emptiness of modern floating Chinese society.

 

Taqi Shaheen (Senior Lecturer)

Taqi Shaheen is a filmmaker, visual artist and art educator whose work crosses mediums and defies genre distinctions to fashion witty and curious observations of contemporary Asian cultures and their urban landscapes. He graduated from the National College of Arts, Lahore, and uses hybrid digital video and film formats to research and construct non-fictional narratives collaborating with various visual artists, musicians and performers. His films and other visual art works have been broadcasted and exhibited internationally and have been featured in conferences and events including International Symposium of Electronic Arts, UAE. He is working on a publication called “Subjective Atlas of Pakistan” which maps behavioral and sociological aspects of contemporary Pakistani society in collaboration with the Dutch designer and Subjective Atlas series initiator, Annelys De Vet. As an art educator, he has been teaching at the Department of Visual Studies at the University of Karachi, National College of Arts, Foundation University of Liberal Arts, Fatima Jinnah University of Women, Rawalpindi and at the Department of Media Studies, Institute of Business Management, Karachi.

 

Shiye Teng (Lecturer)

Shiye Teng, born in China. Now lives and works in Shanghai, China. Digital artist, featured in Digital Art and Animation with a master’s degree in Fine Art Digital, Camberwell College of Arts, University of Arts London. Art mediums in her works include Animation, Digital Art, Video, Photography, Projection Mapping, Physical 3D art work, Painting. Meanwhile, always exploring new art forms, cause there is no boundary in her art world. An artist who gives all her imagination, thinking, enthusiasm into her art works. Her works have been exhibited in San Francisco International Art Center (U.S.), London, Beijing, etc. Recently, her works are focusing on the combination of virtual material and physical space. With New Media Art and new technology, she explores the way we experience image and expands our perception in video and animation.

 

Haoshin Chang (Lecturer)

Haoshin Chang works across the discipline of art and science with a research driven approach. He holds a BSc in biological science at National Taiwan University with a focus on marine ecology, and pursued MFA on transdisciplinary art in Taiwan and Finland. His current projects of how the technological and cultural subjects influenced on art and science is approached by his interest on history of science, cultural studies and STS. Academically, Haoshin had participated in research projects on coral reefs and history of contemporary art at Academia Sinica, while his artistic work has shown in Helsinki, Finland, and around Taiwan. His set of knowledge and experience ranged from global coordination in a media & marcom group covering STEM innovations, co-founded and established a social enterprise startup as a manager, and independently curated projects for science communications, including exhibitions, workshops and video documentaries in Taiwan. As a founding member of art & science community Bioart.TW, he has organized different talks, DIYBio workshops and events on the topic of art & science. Recent event organized by the community as the official representative was <BIO·FICTION> International Science & Art film festival in Taiwan.

 

Taegyun Kim (Teaching Assistant)

Taegyun Kim is a maker and media artist. He graduated from Soongsil University and researched in Mobile laboratory. He researched about ‘Human factors of 3D stereoscopic cinema-HCI Symposium’,’Smartphone Communicating Research utilizing Ultrasound’,’Development of Music Emotional and Lighting System using MATLAB and V4′,’Interactive Ads Platform using Scanimation’. His works are mainly about interactive art, physical computing and light. Taegyun’s works have been diplayed in many exihibition, including Makerfaire 1st Seoul, Creator Planet 2013/2014(SK Planet), Dev On(Daum), ExibitionCreative Korea 2014(Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning),China-Japan-South Korea cooperation Media Exhibition in Jeju(SK Art Nabi Center). He also has provided installation for corporations(Converse Korea, Hanhwa Galleria)and set up the public arts in the park, Seoul. Now, he is teaching and giving technical advice for students.
